Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth
The work of the Secretary-General's Envoy on Youth is guided by the World Programme of Action for Youth which outlines four priority areas; Participation, Advocacy, Partnerships and Harmonisation. The Envoy on Youth advocates for addressing the development needs and rights of young people, as well as to bring the work of the United Nations with and for youth closer to them.
Model UN
The Model UN Workshops focus on giving students and MUN advisors a basic understanding of the General Assembly’s Rules of Procedure, the discussion and action phases of General Assembly Committee meetings, what you need to know when drafting resolutions, the duties and responsibilities of the UN Secretariat and General Assembly officials, the negotiation process that takes place during informal meetings, how consensus is achieved, the Security Council’s Provisional Rules of Procedure, and more. The aim of the workshops is to examine how Model UN simulations can more accurately capture the negotiation process as it commonly occurs at the UN.
Voices of Youth
Voices of Youth is UNICEF’s online place for young people to learn more about issues affecting their world and share their thoughts and opinions with thousands of people from all over the world. You can also discuss social issues such as Education, Environment or Violence and Conflict and inform yourself about HIV/AIDS, Health or Human Rights.
Focal Point on Youth
The Focal Point on Youth of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) aims to build an awareness of the global situation of young people, as well as promote their rights and aspirations. The Focal Point also works towards greater participation of young people in decision-making as a means of achieving peace and development.
UNESCO Youth Forum
The UNESCO Youth Forum process is a fundamental part of UNESCO's Youth Programme. Since its introduction in 1999, it has provided an innovative, ongoing opportunity for youth to work in dialogue with UNESCO, to shape and direct the Organization’s approach and to present their concerns and ideas to Member States.
UN iLibrary
The UN iLibrary is an excellent tool for students, especially those participating in Model UN workshops, who are keen to keep up with trends in the world economy, international diplomacy, sustainable development, climate change and much more. Anyone anywhere with an internet connection can freely read and share books on topics that are particularly important to young people: justice, youth empowerment, migration, humanitarian and refugee issues, disarmament, sustainability, and other areas of interest to students at the global and regional levels.
